My mom hates me

Harry got an early birthday package from my parents today. Of course it had to be ripped open right away. Inside were two Sesame Street DVDs and a musical card. Harry was immediately taken by the card, he laughed so hard that I was worried that he would collapse. At first I was amused and thought the card was kind of cute. After a long afternoon of Harry playing that song over and over again I was convinced that my mother was out to get me. My husband became the mean parent and took the card away after being home only an hour. Apparently he does not have the noise tolerance that I have developed.

This card is not the only noisy thing that has been gifted to my kids by my parents. There have been numerous toys that have earned battery removals. I think the most notable was the Tickle Me Elmo that they gave Harry last Christmas. Elmo is quiet most of the time now, but every so often he gets rediscovered and my day is shot. I think that next time we visit I am going to give each of the boys a musical card to play with at grandma's house. I wonder how long they would last.

I feel your pain. In the last month, my oldest got a card that plays cats meowing the birthday song, and my youngest got a card with the chicken dance music.

Aaaaaahhhhhhhhhhrgh!

Also, the worst is those noisy toys that are motion activated. They would go off in the middle of the night for no good reason! It's hard to find and wield the right screwdriver in the middle of the night when Mr. Noisy Ball has gone off for the third time and woken up the baby...

I cant help it that I'm so talented. I mean how sweet is this? Make your grandkids happy and irritate your kids at the same time!It doesnt get any better than that!

my husbands brother does that to all of us. He isn't married and no kids so he always finds something that would be obnoxious. we, at least he used to. Ever since 2 Christmases ago when he got my kids a zip line that still sits in the closet he's been better about it.

It's my brother (bother?!) who does this to us! Luckily he now has two little pink princess obsessed little girls who I love to indulge with the frilliest frothiest things I can think of to set his teeth on edge!

We had a singing birthday card that would not go off. My brother stuck it under his mattress where it could not be heard and took it out every few weeks to see if it was still singing. The battery took several months to run down!

My mother-in-law is the one that does that to us. She'll find toys at garage sales and be proud that she only paid a quarter. She doesn't understand that it was a quarter because the parents just wanted the noisy thing GONE!
