You never can tell

I hate packing. I always end up over packing because I bring clothing for every possible weather and event combination. I always end up getting bitten in the bum when I under pack but I still get tempted by the less is more siren call. When I was packing for our trip to Utah I fell for the call of under packing. I put one pair of pants in the bag for the boys and the rest was shorts. Guess what it is doing right now! It is raining! The weather is rather chilly.

On the drive over we ran into rain and snow on the passes. All of us were wearing shorts. I felt kind of silly walking around in shorts at the gas station when everyone else was bundled up. At least I remembered to pack some sweat shirts, so the boys were not super cold.

I guess I have learned my lesson yet again, I should be more prepared for different weather. I should also be a bit better about checking the weather for the places we will be visiting.

Eh, what doesn't kill them will make them stronger.
Think of all of those sissy kids who can't handle a little cold. ;) Your kids won't be like that!!!!

Just been catching up. WOW! What a week you've had! Sick AND moving?! I hope things settle down for you soon.

I have to laugh about the traveling and weather thing. A friend of mine was telling me just the other day that when she and her family went to Mexico a couple of years ago that they got stuck in a little town just outside of Denver. The passes were closed and there was over a foot of snow where they had to stay for three days. Yep! you guessed it. All they had to wear were shorts, swim suits and other summer attire. Not a coat or pair of pants in the whole group.

I have the same problem. Should have packed warmer clothes Monday because it was so windy.
Went to Utah last October and packed mostly warmer clothes---then wished we had brought more short sleeved shirts. The only time we wore our jackets was at Thanksgiving Point at night.
Now I'm trying to figure out what to pack to wear in Germany in July.
Whatever I choose will probably be wrong!

Isn't that Murphy's law?

I pack the entire house no matter how long we will be gone. We were only gone for 2 days and 1 night this last weekend. My husband was making fun of me for packing so much, but you know what? We ended up using it all.

Sounds a lot like camping to me. ;)

I always pack half and half. Too many times the weather has changed and the weatheman lies..

Packing and unpacking are my two vices. But wearing shorts in the winter is one of my great joys. :-)

It's so hard to know what to pack!

I remember seeing a tip in a parenting magazine that for an overnight trip, pack everyone's jammies, toiletries, and the next day's outfit all in one bag so you don't have to lug everyone's suitcases in.

Not sure how that's going to help this particular situation, but I thought it was a good tip and wanted to share it!
