Things that break your heart a little

Recently Evan has discovered that band-aids are fun and not merely functional. I bought some fun character band-aids in what I thought was a lame attempt to make his twice a month toe poke for his INR test a little more fun. He seemed to think the band-aids were ok, but nothing special the first time I used them.

This afternoon we were fish watching in his room. Our home INR test kit was sitting on top of his dresser and he saw it. He got excited and started saying something that I could not understand at first. The word was band-aid. He was willing to have me test him so that he could have a beloved character band-aid. Instead I just gave him one to put on his arm.

That's great. I think most kids end up liking band-aids. Clare wants one even if she lightly bumps into something.

He is such a sweet little man!!!! It amazes me the strength that you show with everything that little man has been through!

It HAS to be the name Evan! They are all destined for greatness!

I see where you are coming from, although I think most of them go through a band-aid obsession phase, regardless.

Hi--my daughter, who is 3 1/2, still loves the idea of putting on a Band Aid. For her it's the whole
process—opening the box, choosing the right size, taking the Band Aid out of the box, opening the wrapper and applying the little plastic thing.

She'll look at me when she's finished and say, "Daddy, it feels better now."
It's amazing to see how much joy comes from such a simple thing.
Thanks for the post!

What a sweetie pie! I don't know what it is about those things but Haddie used to go through a pack a week until I put a stop to her addiction. I'm sure it didn't help they were Dora band-aids... :-)

I bet he was SO glad you were able to find a more humane option to supply him with a bandaid! Way to go, Mom!
