I need a hiding place
It is starting. The sun rises early enough now that Evan wakes up at 6am. He is kind enough to wait to wake Harry up until around 6:30 which is when he can hear my husband getting up for work. He has to wake the sleeping soundly Harry because Evan has to have him to the dirty work of opening the door. That leaves me to deal with a cranky sobbing two year old all morning long. When we move I am going to be more aware of where the sun rises and place the boys in the room opposite of that even if they end up in the master bedroom and I end up sleeping in a bathroom. The extra sleep would be worth it. Now if you will excuse me, I have to deal with a sobbing Harry.

I hear ya. The morning sun shines right in my son's room and it's a killer for everyone else!
I have to confess, I am just like Evan. If the sun is up, so am I. I don't know why I can't sleep in, but I envy those who find the morning sun shining in their face a perfect time to catch a few more Zzzzz's. Out camping is the worst! If the sun comes up at 4:30am that's when I wake-up.
PS: I am not that obsessed with Halloween. It's just fun. I completely re-decorate the house for Christmas and Easter as well.
We put a blackout shade on Mr. P's window and it works like a charm!
Oh, it doesn't look all that hot, but it's removable and I don't care because it gives me a minimum of an hour's more sleep!
I hate mornings. *grumbles*
I'm glad my kids sleep through them, at least somewhat.
I found denim curtains for my son's room. They're much more attractive than the blackout shades, and they're so thick that they work almost as well (as long as you keep them properly closed). The ones I found are a regular blue-jean color that works well in a boy's room. Under the denim curtains, I have gauze curtains. That way I can let natural light in in the daytime but we still have some privacy.
I got the denim curtains from-- where else? Target. I've seen them at other stores too, though.
We 'bought' a blackout screen from e-bay for Alexander's room. When it arrived it was a roll of velcro and a piece of blackout fabric!
We had to stick velcro all around the window frame, cut the fabric to size, stick the other velcro onto the fabric and voila - a screen!
It really works a treat and you just pull it off rather than leave it up.
We still use it in the summer.
Why do little boys think they must get up with the sun? We used a blackout shade from Home Depot behind blue starry curtains to keep the light at bay.
Isn't two so much fun?! I go from saying (out loud) what a good boy he is to bemoaning that my child is a complete & total monster in the space of a few hours every single day. Keeps ya busy, that's for sure. I second & third the curtains!
