Sweetheart Sweater

I finished the practice version of the sweater that I started for Harry. I used cheap acrylic yarn and it was not fun to use at all. I had to wash my hands after I was done knitting on it. The sweater is so stiff that it can almost stand on it's own. I am glad that I am using nicer yarn for Harry's sweater. I made a mistake in the neck that I may actually do again. I am a bit worried that Harry's giant noggin will not fit through the neck of the sweater and the mistake when coupled with a button hole will make a nice way to ensure that the sweater is usable.

It is kind of hard to see, but I accidentally picked up stitches along the shoulder seam. If I added a button hole in the extra portion I could make extra easement for a giant noggin.

I did not have a newborn baby handy to model so I used my original vintage Cabbage Patch doll.

The pale blue shirt with nobody inside it. With a little help on the arms the sweater can stand up.

You really should be proud of yourself! I can't imagine having the patience to finish something like that and it looks GREAT!

I started over about three times when doing the heart part which is why it was practice for me.

What is the best way for a beginner to learn? I have been wanting to try to knit for some time.

That sweater is so cute! Way smart to do a practice one! I find my second one of anything I knit is much better than the first.

(LOVE your cabbage patch doll, by the way!)
