School is back in!
You may be wondering why I am so excited that the first day of school in my town was today. I am so thrilled because it means that the little gets get the parks back. The local "day camps" (aka glorified day care centers) love to take over the parks for hours on end and was always frustrating to come to the park and find bored tweens hogging the little kid play areas. I had to worry about rambunctious older kids squishing my little ones. It was so nice to go to the park and see only little kids around. The park was also a lot cleaner to boot. I am going to enjoy the park time now.

Yep, the fall is my favorite time at the parks for that exact reason. Enjoy!!!
I know exactly what you are talking about on this. I too like it when the older kids are gone.
I haven't really experienced this, but I can see it being a problem!
In California we had troubles with big groups of developmentally disable adults taking over the playground (one even hit a child!), if they were there and picnicing or even on the swings I wouldn't even blink, but they would take over being so big!
Yup, I love it when school is back in session. Museums, and the zoo, and all of those fun places are quieter. At least at the beginning of the school year before all of the field trips kick in!
I hear ya! Yea!!
Older kids can be such bullies :P
....just wait till our kids get there!
The day camps in my area don't allow the kids to use the play equipment most of the time. I attended them many years and have much experience with this. I think it's rotten they're not saved for the little kids in your area.
Man, I can't wait for the cooler weather of the fall.
Oh, that happens in my town too! Only the kids aren't so big-- the ones whose day camp is always camping at my nearest neighborhood park look to be about 6-8ish-- but they swarm.
(And they curse at each other. A lot. I am convinced my son will come home from his first day of kindergarten swearing like a sailor.)
Of course, it's also been 100 degrees for basically the entire month of August here, so we haven't been able to spend much time at the park anyway . . .
I completely agree. And the evenings are nicer too because all the after school clubs/sports/meetings have started on top of the homework. So now we can enjoy the park in the evenings with only a few kids there.
