Monkey feet
I have been long teased about my feet. As you can see from the picture my second toe is longer than my big toe (the "normal" being the big toe being the longest toe). My mother and some of my sisters were born with "normal" feet so in their ignorance and jealousy they loved to tease me about my monkey feet. I love my feet and their usefulness. I can pick things up off the floor with my ultra flexible toes. I have even played Monopoly with my feet. I practice these things so that if I ever loose the use of my hands I will still be able to do many of the things that I can do now.
It tickles me to no end that both of the boys have feet like mine. It was no real surprise that they were born this way, as I married a fellow monkey footed person. What is really fun is that they both are making use of their extraordinary anatomy entirely on their own. I have not done anything to encourage them to use feet as hands and yet they are discovering the fun of it on their own. Evan is the best at the use of the foot, but Harry is picking it up by watching.

I've often heard that the longer second toe is called the Roman Toe. I have it, as does my husband. Two of my three children have it.
I have noticed that All my children try to pick up objects with their feet. I will join you in the Monkey feet. I also like my ability.
I knew there was something "special" about you! ;)
My sister's toes are webbed....the 2nd and 3rd toe are fused 1/2 way up. Her dd was born the same way. My feet are "normal." Well, except for my broken toe right now.
Picking items up with our toes, runs in my family too
That's so cute!
I have "normal feet" I guess, but I still pick things up with my toes, I became the master of it when I was pregnant, clumsy, and too damn lazy to bend over and get things off the floor!
My husband makes fun of me because I am unable to pick up things with my toes!
Those are very cute piggies!!
Such talent! I enjoyed visiting your blog. Thank you so much for the good mail! I love trying out new things =)
Those guys are looking smug! I jus wanna sap em!
It's called a Morton's Toe when the second is longer than the Big Toe. I had an anatomy professor say that it was a sign of "higher intelligence".
Oooh.. my second toe is longer than my big toe as well. Exciting.
That is the cutest thing I've seen all day! :D
Believe it or not, when our son was born, one of the first words out of my husband's mouth were, "OMG, he can splay his toes just like you!" (Like me.) Sure enough, baby boy was crying up a newborn storm and splaying his angry little toes. Hubby has always been horrified I can do that. I've always been mystified that he can't.
I also have a long second toe :).
