Hey look something shiny!

To distract you from me updating about how I am doing with my gestational diabetes (I don't want to jinx anything) I am going to tell you something funny that Evan said this morning. I was peeling a hard boiled egg as part of my breakfast. Evan saw me and told me that I should let the chick out of the egg. I laughed but had to think of a way to explain to him about how this egg was unfertilized. I ended up telling him that some eggs had chicks and some did not and this was an egg with out a chick.

Ugh I still try not to think about that whole aspect of eggs!

Totally sending you positive vibes!

I tell Becca that in order to have chicks there has to be a rooster, and that Chicken farms do not have roosters.

What?! You didn't sit him down and explain everything to him about poultry reproduction? Geez! What kind of mom are you? ;)

Very cute, and what a thinker! You were able to come up with a good answer.

I had GD too and it was no fun. That's a cute little dude there with the egg "crack"!

Sigh. It only gets worse. I'm still not to the point where I can say "sperm" in front of my kids without my stomach flipping.
Try teaching biology without using the word sperm. Doesn't work.

I was thinking to myself a few weeks ago that I will have to have that conversation with Fly sometime!

Had a good laugh reading your post. Seems like you got away with the explanation.

That is so cool that he knows baby chicks come from eggs!
That reminds me of this story. When I was in Kindergarten, my Kindergarten teacher hatched chicken eggs in class. I was so enamoured of them that she gave me a bantam rooster for out pet bantam hen so I could have baby chicks at home. But he was a mean rooster! I just couldnt understand why he was always trying to ride piggyback on my hen! And my mom never told me why.... har har/But we did get one baby chick from it.

Oh lord, how complicated! Way too much for a morning conversation inmy opinion. (This from someone who is NOT a morning person.)

Better than I would have done with my explanation. :-)
