You know you are old when you hear the Sesame Street version of a song before you hear it out in real life. I was doing a summer clearance crawl getting some clothing for Evan to use next summer when I heard a familiar tune. It was a song that I had heard on Sesame Street, but it was the real version and not actually about counting. I actually liked the Sesame Street version a lot better.
Here is my all time favorite Sesame Street song.

I don't think I remember that song and I thought I knew every Sesame Street song, lol
Thanks for my morning smile
Also my fave Sesame Street song!
That has happened to me when I hear a Weird Al version of a song , and then the original. I always like the Weird Al version the best
I have trouble with Norah Jones's song "Don't Know Why". On Sesame Street it's about the letter "Y".
I like the furry version as well!
I am partial to Feist's appearance. But this one makes me bounce :D
Ha! I totally remember this one!
Okay, I saw your comment at My Ice Cream Diary and I have to ask... how did you get an ipod out of blogging? Jealous here!!!
I've never figured out how to get really anything out of blogging. Although Leap Frog says they will send me some products to review--I have yet to receive them...
I love this one too! I posted it on my blog last month. Cool pick!
I LOVE IT, TOOOOO!!!! WE ALL LOVE IT AT MY HOUSE!
And I totally get what you're saying. They have musical guests that I don't recognize. I'm so old.
I like that one too.
Do you watch the ones on Noggin? I like the music videos on there with the electric violins and the "taxi, taxi" song is always in my head.
Yes! Love the R.E.M. one! Was the one you heard the one-two-three-four one? I still haven't heard the original. I'd never heard of her before Sesame Street. I was just impressed with myself for knowing who James Blunt was when he came on the other day. Sadly, when I looked up that song on iTunes, there is an 'explicit' version. I did not know that.
Some of my other favorites are opera on Sesame Street. Graves and Bocelli do great songs.
One of my more favorite R.E.M. songs. I hadn't heard that there was a muppet version of it though. Here's the official (legal) youtube page for the original song:

What, you didn't see the iPod commercials? ;)
I have always liked U Really Got a Hold on Me best of Sesame Street parodies. I don't know that it's my favorite Sesame Street song, though. That would be a tie between I Don't Want to Live on the Moon and Dance Myself to Sleep. Second place would have to be a tie too, I think. Rubber Duckie, Put Down the Duckie, My Name is You, Sing, and What's the Name of that Song? make the second place list.
(Yes, I'm an Ernie fan. Note how many of my favorites have Ernie? Just noticed that. :D )
Was it the "Counting to Four" song? I don't think I've ever heard the "real" version, but the "Sesame" version is awfully catchy. I love Shiny Happy Monsters, but my daughter is terrified of it. :(
