I ain't lion

Harry was quite a hit with the lions at the zoo today. I really am kicking myself for not bringing my camera.

It is quite chilly today so I thought it would be fun to get out and make out weekly zoo trip. I hate going when it is super hot so I usually schedule it on a cloudy day. Today we had to wear pants and jackets!

The animals were much more active this morning. Usually they sit there listlessly ignoring the puny humans that are peering at them. The lion display has a see through fence and a path that leads to a cave where you can look at the lions through thick glass. There were some older kids running from one part of the display to another and the male lion was running along side them. He stopped and stared when he saw Harry who was wearing a red jacket.

When we went to the cave there was a female lion near the window and she got quite excited when she saw Harry. She started pawing at the window right where Harry was standing to look in. The male lion came by a bit later and started doing the same thing.

One of the moms there asked me if I was freaked out that my son seemed so attractive to the lions. I just shrugged. I would have been more worried if Harry had been upset by all the attention, but he thought it was funny that they were trying to get to him. I also felt that the zoo would not want to get sued so they would make darn sure that the animal enclosures were up to snuff.

Yeah, I used to think that until a gorilla got out at our local zoo.

Maybe their food is given to them in a red bucket or something. I hope.

Wonder if lions can see colors? Or maybe they were just in awe of Harry cuteness! People think baby animals are so cute. Have seen dogs and a few cats give a lot of attention to a baby. You sometimes wonder what an animal is thinking?

Harry must be real sweet to tame a lion!

I went to the zoo once and the lion pen where we live is open chicken wire type ( I am sure it is stronger than that) with the rail some feet back. Some teenage boys were taunting the lion, and he proceeded to turn around and spray them. I thought they got their just desserts!!

I can just imagine this. At least he wasn't totally nonchalant to the lion. I think my son might have been like, "whatever. lion-shmion."

That's pretty funny. What was the lion thinking? I'm really curious now. Is it the color?

I'm sure they just wanted to give him hugs and kisses, but that would have freaked me out. *lol*

[Also I wanted to stop by and say thanks for commenting on my guest post @ Don Mills Diva. So, thanks.:)]

Oh I would totally have freaked out, myself.

But then again a cheetah got out at my zoo last year. (Didn't hurt anyone. Was more scared of the people than they were of her. But still.)
