Awwww

Sometimes it is pretty easy to get ground under with all the thankless stuff that you have to do as a parent. Today I actually got a bit of appreciation.

I was making the kids lunch and had made them stay downstairs so that they would not harass me while I was working in the kitchen. Part way through the lunch preparation I hear Evan say "Good job making lunch Mommy" and then later he actually thanked me for making him lunch. This was repeated at dinner time.

I replied with a "You are welcome" but it also made me feel a bit bad that I had been kind of grumpy with him. He can be such a trying child at times and sometimes I would love to sell him just so I could have a few moments of peace. When he is not annoying the crap out of me, he is a very sweet and loving child. I feel so lucky to be his mom.

You know I was just "tagged" to post what I learned from my mom or from being a mom, and after reading your post perhaps you will be one of the people I tag in return.

Evan loves his mom, that's evident. And trying as he may be (and as we are to God) there is never a doubt of the never failing love.

I also will buy him.
Didn't you know that to a little guy nobody in the world can cook as good as Mommy? Enjoy the hero worship now---it doesn't last!

Sometimes they just come out of nowhere with their gratitude and it makes up for allllll the other bouts of ingratitude, doesn't it. :-)

:) I love your honesty. Sometimes my kids drive me NUTS and I feel like such a lame mom. Thanks for letting me know I'm still ok!

I could have totally written a similar post. When my son isn't bugging me to death, he's the most precious little pumpkin. Why can't we get a little more of that sweetness?
